Trace the Wood Heart Shape onto the Back of the Printable

The next step is to trace the wood heart onto the back of the printable using a pencil and then cut it out.

It won’t fit the entire heart, but we’ll fix that next.

Just make sure there is enough extra printable at the bottom to use for the small piece that’s not covered yet.

Now, we’ll cover up the bit of the wood heart that’s still remaining. Place a piece of the remaining printable on the bit of raw wood that’s still exposed.

Then crease it at the edge of the heart so that it’s easy to cut out.

Place Skewer through the Hole

Push a skewer through the printable where the hole is to make the hole for hanging.

Note: If you would want to use it only for shelf decor then skip this step.

Place a skewer through the printable where the hole is covered up.

Place a Layer of Mod Podge Over the Printable

Place a layer of mod podge over the printable. Be careful and try to hold the edges as you do this. As you can see in the picture my thumb pulled off some of the printable toward the bottom. 🤔

Don’t worry, it this happens we can cover it up in the next step.

Place a coat of the mod podge over the printable.

Arrange the Wood Heart Ornaments on the Large Wood Heart

This is what came in the pack of wood heart ornaments.

Pink, red and natural colored wood heart ornaments.

Arrange the wood hearts up along the side. I’d recommend doing this up the side that has the seam.

It also helped that one of the hearts covered up my fingerprint!

I decided to use the natural wood hearts; however, you can customize it with the red and pink ones too if you prefer!

Arrange the small wood hearts up along the side of the large wood heart.

Add some extra mod podge and adhere the heart ornaments to the large wood heart.

A few of them were stuck pretty good already from the layer of mod podge that I had just applied in the previous step.

Use extra mod podge to adhere the wood heart ornaments to the large wooden heart.

All that’s left to do is allow the mod podge to dry and add the jute string back onto the heart hanger.

Allow the mod podge to dry after adding the wood ornaments.

To add the jute string back onto the heart, I tied it and then knotted it at the base. Then I tied it at the top. I did it this way to minimize tilting when it was hanging.
