DIY Farmhouse Vintage Valentine’s Day Decor Ideas

Looking for a little inspiration for Valentine’s Day? Do you like both rustic farmhouse and vintage styles? Well then, this is the post for you!

Does farmhouse plus vintage style appeal to you?

Do you also like to DIY decor for your home?

Well, me too, my friend. And I have a feeling this post should be right up your alley just in time for Valentine’s Day.

Farmhouse style has always appealed to me. I, without a doubt, have watched every single episode of Fixer Upper.

Cozy, lived-in homes are my jam. Natural elements such as wood, rope, wicker, and metal are what I aspire to use in my own home.

However, I am also a collector of old junk, oops I mean pieces, that have a history. The more unique the better.

Blending these two styles along with sentimental photos and gifts/creations from my kiddos is what makes me feel at home.

And I can’t forget about books. They hold a special place in my heart since I always had a book in my hand when I was a kid. Multi-functional too, great for both reading and decorating.

Are you the same type of home decorator?

My home never looks perfect, and that is fine with me. It looks like people I love live here. Which is better than perfect.

So, for today, let’s style this old buffet for Valentine’s Day using both vintage and rustic pieces along with a bit of DIY.

I’ll link each DIY home decor idea throughout the post in the bold heading area, in case you’re interested in creating a little heart day decor too.

Wood Bead and Heart Garland

Smack in the middle of the buffet is a pretty carved tray that a dear friend gave me years ago. The inside of the tray states “home sweet home” so I’m thinking it was a housewarming gift.

Inside the tray are layers of linen (that are actually just folded up pillowcases that I had on hand for a future project).

On top, I added a spool of twine and wood bead and heart garland which is an easy DIY that could also double as rustic wedding decor.

Book Page Heart DIY

This book page heart is sitting on three old books that I found at my mother-in-law’s home. She has a bunch of cool old vintag-ey stuff at her house which was once an old hotel.

This inexpensive DIY uses a Dollar Tree foam heart and book. The book pages are torn and tea stained to make them look aged.

One of my favorite DIYs since it features book pages!

Spackle Heart Art

This spackle heart art is simple to create using spackle (which you may already have on hand) and a Dollar Tree canvas. A free heart printable is included which makes this DIY even easier.

When you’re done, set it up on a few vintage books next to an old, thrifted jug. The cozy muted pink color blends right in with the rustic vibe we are going for in this display.

Super easy, super inexpensive, and the colors complement any decor.

Fabric Vintage Heart Banner DIY

This fabric heart banner hanging on the chalkboard uses inexpensive drop cloth and paper heart printables to create a vintage style garland.

It’s hung on jute twine which fits in with the natural elements that make up farmhouse decor.

The different hearts on the banner consist of muted colors in various plaid patterns that make them homey.

This banner is available as a digital download in my Etsy shop. But check out the post to see how to make it fabric-like and aged looking.

Faux Stone Vase DIY with Red Floral Stems

This concrete-look vase was thrifted and given this finish with simple supplies including paint and baking soda.

Although it’s not specifically for Valentine’s Day, I wanted to include it since it’s such a popular post.

However, if you wanted to give it a pink hue for this holiday, you could use a pink colored paint when applying your faux stone finish.

I ended up filling it with red eucalyptus stems that I borrowed from my fall decor supplies. They fit right in with the Valentine’s Day theme. I love when I can use decor for more than one holiday or season.
